"You can't be who you are with your horse - you have to be a HORSEMAN - you have to adapt!"  ~ Linda Parelli - September, 2009

2011 Lesson Rates:

I would love to help you with your horse!  I will take new clients on a case-by-case basis.  After an initial consultation, you and I will decide if we are a good fit for each other (and if I’m a good fit for your horse!).  I have almost 20 years of teaching experience in a variety of areas and understand how important it is to have a comfortable working relationship with an instructor.  I reserve the right to decline any contract or teaching situation, just as you reserve the right to decline my services.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION:

Standard charge is $55 (+ mileage, determined prior to appt., but generally $.50/mile round-trip from my place to yours) for initial assessment (1.5 hours).

If we decide to work together, we have several options:

$55 per 1.5 hour lesson + mileage is my standard lesson rate.

If you wish to purchase a ten-lesson package, you can do so for $500 (+ mileage) and save $50 over ten lessons.

If I bring my horse/trailer along, there may be additional fees imposed per lesson (to be negotiated prior to the session – no surprises!).  There are times when your working with or riding a calm, experienced horse can help you get over a “hump” or gain a better understanding of how things should work with your horse.  This may involve you coming here (for no extra charge), or one of my horses coming to your facility with me.  Example: HotShot acting as the  "stabilizer" on the trail (or in the trailer), in a parade, at a show, or wherever, with you and your horse - his specialty!

You must cancel/re-schedule lessons at least 24 hours in advance in order to not be charged for that session (except in the case of a true emergency or weather-related issues outside of our control).  If I need to cancel or re-schedule, I will adhere to the 24-hour rule as well.

Group lessons are not encouraged, but I may take on pre-approved groups for lessons at an individually-negotiated hourly rate.

My goal is to help you improve YOUR relationship with YOUR horse.  In that spirit, I will assist in training you and your horse in natural methods.  If that includes riding your horse for purposes of instruction, I will certainly do so, however, I am not generally in the business of training someone else’s horse to give back to them.  I am not interested in teaching your horse a language that is natural for him if you are not “along for the ride.”  There are occasional exceptions to this policy, but I see my primary role as that of teacher/instructor of PEOPLE, who then teach/train their horses themselves.  This is what furthers the relationship between a person and their horse!

Remember – horsemanship is so much more than riding!  We will spend time refining your communication with your horse on the ground as well – that’s where it all starts!  You will discover a whole new relationship with your horse – and it will be fun for both of you!
